Emily Mouskides recommends you improve your mobility with these stretches

We’re pretty familiar with that post-workout feeling. You’re tired and sweaty, and the first thing you want to do is jump in the shower or grab yourself a shake. But, by skipping any post-workout stretching, you’re missing out on a prime opportunity to improve your mobility.

Emily Mouskides (@emilymouufit) is a PT who specialises in yoga for athletes. She knows just how important it is to add stretches into your cool-down routine. “By practising your mobility for a few weeks, you’ll be able to lift more, press more, and get stronger,” she advises. “Stretching the muscles will help to lengthen them, prevent tightness, and increase their rate of recovery. Stretching makes the muscles more pliable, helping them to withstand more strain.”

Improve your mobility with these stretches

Improve your mobility by watching the video below. Try these stretches after a workout whilst your body is still warm for the best effect, or add them into your rest day for some extra practice.

After University she went on to work in Sports for a leading sports equipment manufacturer, where she was lucky enough to work with world-class athletes, top trainers, and inspiring customers alike before taking the experience forward to MP. A somewhat reluctant early bird, Georgie manages to drag herself to the gym most mornings for 7:00 am HIIT sessions or weight training under the watchful eyes of a virtual PT. For some reason, Saturday night takeout always tastes better when accompanied by DOMS.
